Day 21 – free day!

Day 21 – Free day! In order to be able to get myself up to date, this free day posting will be a brief photo album!

The Calgary Three have pressed on to Moose Jaw, I’ve had a very chilled-out (Father’s) day starting at the kids’ Swift Current Box Car Races (down the main drag in town):


…then having breakfast at “Smitty’s”, where I broke a personal record for number of coffees consumed within an hour or so (3 cups plus an entire jug, kindly left by the waitress long after she cleared my breakfast away, as I kept bothering her for refills): 

…persuaded the nice waitress to give me a $10 voucher, even though I was celebrating Fathers’ Day alone. Sniff.
…met Pastor Dan and the big group outside his church, Victory Church, with their prized cars, all spruced up for display and demo rides for Father’s Day. Dan had a beautiful red Mini, the star of the show, with kids queuing up for another go around the parking lot in it. (I gather he also owns another 47 cars within the family). We discussed SOS Children’s Villages which he knew well, as he is a supporter of and volunteer for several children’s charities himself. (Check out the classic bike also entered in competition today)


…shopped and was amazed at what you can pick up on a Sunday in Swift Current….


..and most importantly discovered a massage chair where I spent a very worthwhile $6 having three goes:


Hitting the spot! Legs, lower back, shoulders, BAM!


Off for supper now at Boston Pizza calorie intake centre, then an earlyish night before heading south (heavens above, whatever  next?) with a view to heading east again (that’s better) towards Ponteix (silent “i” I’m told). Wishing all dads out there, but especially my own, a very happy Father’s Day, though most of you may be asleep. What better way to enjoy it, eh dad? Bx

  2. Good to think of you having time off and massage. VERY hot here in UK so doing minimum apart from watering plants and thinking of the brilliant hose description in Knoxville

  3. Hi Ben, what did you get with the $10 voucher and did it compensate for lonely fathers’ day? Thanks for your good wishes. We went to a Jo Cox event in Linton – a great occasion but just too hot for us and Wicken .Are you expecting to have to restrain some sheep or is it for some other purpose (I’m assuming you bought one)? Your achievements are amazing and the monthly miles record one for the family history book. I guess by now you are preparing for today’s ride? What time zone are you in at the moment? Dad xxxx
